This album is pretty eclectic,
but had a difficult
birth. Before I started it, my plan was to make an album focusing around
Japanese themes, as I'd just gotten back from my 4th trip to Japan, and came
back with a ton of samples on my minidisk. Unfortunately, a little bit into
the making of the album, I became incredibly frustrated, and hit a creative
block. A year later, I got
back to work and felt quite recharged. I abandonded the original album concept
(since my interest in Japan already is woven deep within most of my art and
music anyway) and decided to make more of a varied theme - one that is pretty dark
and abrasive, but danceable. During this era, I was listening to a lot of
electroclash and indie rock, as well as goth and industrial music (going to a
lot of goth clubs with the goth girl I was dating in those days) and I think
that - combined with my quarter-life crisis - added to the dark tone.
Unfortunately, this would end up being my last full-length album for almost 20 years
(I made a noise EP in 2011), as
my free time became more vanishingly rare the more of an "adult" I became, and
my creative self-confidence hit the wall. Even though I had my doubts about my
musical skills of the time, listening to this album in 2024, it sounds a lot
better than I gave myself credit for at the time. I wish I'd believed in my own
skills a bit more back then, as this is a good album.

NOTES: The original version (2005) of this album
was missing "Hell Dimension", and instead had a wild 10-minute percussion medley
track called "Beat Suite". For the Pish Posh Records release of the album in
2006 I swapped those tracks, and also made minor tweaks to a couple
songs.
