For Last Gasp's English-language release of Suehiro Maruo & Edogawa Rampo's "The Strange Tale of Panorama Island", I did the book design, logo design, lettering, and touch-up. This page focuses on the design. I adapted part of the design of the original Japanese edition, but made some tweaks to better fit the horizontal flow of English. The outer sleeve is quite striking in person, as the logos that you see in light yellow are printed in metallic gold foil, as on the Japanese edition. We also chose to print the book as a hardcover, and larger than the original release. This book was a dream for me to work on, since I love Maruo's comics and wish more of them were available in English. I'm also quite fascinated with the work of Edogawa Rampo, the famous mystery novelist whose story this manga adapts.
