O MAIDENS IN YOUR SAVAGE SEASON
2019-2020 ✦ CG, publisher-provided artwork
I had a lot of fun working on Nao Emoto's series
Forget Me Not, so I jumped at
the chance to letter her next series. O Maidens in Your Savage Season
is a charming and funny coming-of-age story about five high school girls,
written by anime great Mari Okada. There were some fun opportunities to design
things, mostly in the translation notes page, where I opted to echo the volume's
story, but in minimalist form, using just four carefully chosen panels. This
section is about design, but if you want to see a bunch of samples of my
lettering for the series, it's in the
Comics gallery.

GOLOSSEUM
2018 ✦ CG, publisher-provided artwork
Here is some of the design work I did for the
over-the-top crazy martial arts action manga Golosseum. Specifically,
translation notes pages, a two-page bonus spread of the three main women
characters, and some of the bonus info from the backs of the volumes. Also,
check out the lettering I did for the series, in the
Comics gallery.

AKIRA
2016-2017 ✦ CG, publisher-provided artwork
I've loved Akira since I was 13, and was honored to
be able to work on the 35th anniversary box set. In addition to the full
lettering of half of the series, and partial lettering of the other half (you
can see my Akira lettering in the Comics section), I also handled interior
design work. I was able to get most creative with the sound effects glossaries,
and had a fun time choosing impactful panel art to serve as borders on the tops
and bottoms of those pages. I also handled things like the "Story of Akira"
summary sections, which I matched as closely to the Japanese editions as
possible.

ETC...
Here's a collection of various little bits of design
work from various manga titles. Grouping them together like this doesn't mean
they are unimportant to me, but just that I didn't have as much to do
design-wise on them, or that they are earlier examples of my work. Included are
Kazuhiro Fujita's The Ghost and the Lady, Junji Ito's Cat
Diary: Yon & Mu, Koutarou Sekine's Ninja Slayer Kills,
