Though I'd liked electronic music since childhood, I hadn't started really getting into house music until late 1999, shortly before starting this album. I decided I wanted to make an album with lots of house influence. I didn't end up making anything that sounded that much like house, (except for "Drama Suckers"), but what I did make turned out enjoyable and diverse (in my humble opinion).

This album was a breakthrough for me. For starters, it was my first album to have some tracks recorded in CD-quality (44100 Hz), which I would stick to afterwards. (I realize how quaint all this sounds now.) Thus, a lot of the album sounds much more crisp than previous albums (except for the first few tracks I made for it). Equally important, after a couple albums of just experimenting with the technique, I started time-stretching / compressing all of my loops, leading to a much tighter sound from this album onward.
