Most updates about Macro are posted at
the Facebook page. I will, however, be posting more
detailed updates of major news (new songs and albums,
live dates, etc) here. In the meantime, be sure to like
the Macro Facebook page!

It's been approximately
eight million years since I've updated this site or made
any music, but today I went through and fine-tuned some
stuff, and added a new
section, Macro merchandise! I've been selling my art
on Society6 for a couple years now, and added some
Macro-themed stuff to the mix.
Go check it out!
Also redesigned the landing page and made some nips and
tucks here and there.
As far as music goes, I'm hoping to make some this
summer, since my work schedule is finally getting less
insane. It's really hard to start creating your own
stuff again after so long, and after giving so much of
your productivity to work-related art (I enjoy lettering
manga, btw, so no major complaints!), it's hard to find
the energy. Hopefully I'll get the ball rolling again
soon... |

A little while back I
finished a new track and forgot to mention it here!
(Despite it being a new favorite of mine).
It's called "199X". This one's
a tribute to the way we viewed the
future, in the past, in this case the early 1980's.
"199X", and sometimes "200X" was a year used in some
games to mean "sometime in the future", and seems quaint
now, since we're in the 201Xs. Anyway, I drew up a
marker image of a sci-fi / post-apocalyptic scene, made
a fake Nintendo Famicom (Japanese NES) label, and
wandered around taking photos of it. As for the song,
it's sort of like space hip-hop meets an intense wall of
sound. The video cycles through several difference
scenes that I set up (stills only, but ones I took a
while making). I hope you give this a listen and check
out the art.
I'm
trying to merge my music and visual art closer together
from now on, and it's quite exciting. (Best listened to
on good, bass-heavy, headphones or speakers, not tiny
smartphone speakers)
You can download the track

...and watch it on YouTube
here.
Also, like all my Macro-related art, I made the single
promo image you see to the left. Be sure to click the

the label image I drew for this fake Famicom catridge?

STREET MEAT |
MARCH 7th, 2014 |
|
 |
I
finished a new Macro song a couple weeks ago, called
"Street Meat". It's super ominous and the theme is car
crashes and clinging to life. Seven minutes of crunchy
Game Boy sounds, car crash samples, thunderous beats,
and moody atmospherics!

AMETHYST |
AUGUST 12th, 2013 |
|
 |
I
finished a new Macro song recently! Well, 80% new,
technically. I made "Amethyst" originally back in 2007,
my last new song before the big music hiatus. Thing is,
I was never 100% happy with how it turned out, but there
were definitely some ideas in the song that I wanted to
keep. Thus, I decided to redo the track, stripping out a
lot of stuff and adding in a bunch, and now I'm pretty
pleased with it!

LIKE A PHOENIX FROM THE ASHES... |
JULY 5th, 2013 |
|

|
...the Macro site is
back, and totally new!
As I've mentioned elsewhere on this site, it's summer
2013 and I'm in the process of coming out of a long
six-year hiatus from music making & performing. I've
been making
new music, playing around with
new toys, and feeling super happy and inspired by my
new life in... Japan!
I moved to Nagasaki in January, and it's been a huge and
positive life change. True, I don't have the creative
network here that I had back in San Francisco or
Detroit-area, but I've been meeting cool people and
learning about the local art and music scene.
Anyway, stay tuned while I make some more new stuff and
generally get back in the saddle again. In the meantime,
feel free to
like Macro on Facebook! I'll be posting updates
here, but mostly just the bigger ones. If you want some
of the fun minutia, Facebook is where that shall be. |
