After
a long creative block with my music (oh, about five
years), I decided it was time to make another insane
noise EP, just to get reacquainted with my old
music-making tools and techniques, and to learn some new
ones in the process. Traditionally, my series of "Sugarbrain"
side-project EPs would consist of 50 tracks, each
clocking in at 30 seconds, a minute, or a minute & a
half, all with titles that had some sort of play on the
word "bug" (which I had an obsession with when I started
the series in 1999). I decided to keep with tradition
for this one.
Like Sugarbrain 1 & 2, this is absolutely bonkers. No
concern (or desire) for making "real" music, but rather
a desire for pure experimentation. Like it's
predecessors, I used this album as a "testing ground"
for new techniques. SB3 is abrasive, funny, and strange
like the others, but unlike them, this time I decided to
improve my mastering / mixing abilities. I still kept
the chaos in place, but I tried to make it "fine-tuned"
chaos, if you get my drift. It was a fun project.

INFO
This album is pretty schizophrenic, and had a difficult birth. Before I started it,
my plan was to make an album focusing around Japanese themes, as I'd just gotten back from
my 4th trip to Japan, and came back with a ton of samples on my minidisk. Unfortunately, a
little while into the making of the album, I became incredibly frustrated, and hit a
creative block. A year later, after I set my goals back to a more obtainable level, I
got back to work and felt quite recharged. As for the sound, it sounds pretty dark
and abrasive, but danceable.
The original version of this album was missing "Hell Dimension", and
instead had a track called "Beat Suite". For the wider release of the
album - through Pish Posh Records - I swapped those tracks, and also
made minor tweaks to a couple songs.

INFO
My
last release under the name "Evil Eye", before changing
the name to "Macro" at the end of 2003. For this EP, I
enlisted the help of Patric, AKA "Such,Broken Glass" for
two remixes. (okay, I asked for one, but he surprised me
with two. Awesome!) This soon led to us doing an album
together (see: "We Chose
These Children to Live"). Also included is a remix I did of
the track (Death Ray Vengeance), as well as a live
version done on Ableton.

INFO
Kind of hard to put into words, and basically all over the map. I wanted to show my
love for '80's new wave and electro, without it seeming too contrived. Lots of
"microsurgery" of beat structures. There's also a little bit of drum &
bass in there. When I made this album, I had just bought
a Korg Electribe ES-1, and was totally infatuated with
it and used it on just about every track. This album,
like Space Junk, was released under the old Evil Eye
name, but has been retroactively brought under the Macro
banner, as it's emblematic of the direction my music has
turned since 2003.

Mostly spacey
and atmospheric (compared to my former stuff). Music inspired by
70's and '80s sci-fi movies. My music took a big leap on this album, in terms of musical
structure and depth. Despite that this was originally released under the
old "Evil Eye" name, I feel that this is my first album to reflect the
more grown-up sound that caused me to change my music name.

INFO
!!!!!!HARDCORE!!!!!!! from start to finish, Deathscape Navigator is super loud, super frightening, & super dark.
It's chock full of distortion, noise, flesh-rending
treble & brain numbing bass. A little bit inspired by
gabber and speedcore, but with a dash or intelligence
and a lack of repetition, hopefully. I made this EP
concurrently as I was making the double-LP "Space
Junk". The two sounds couldn't be more different.
This album being really loud and abrasive, and Space
Junk being quite subdued, pretty, and spacey. Despite
how much intentional distortion and loudness this album
entails, funny enough it's my first full album to be
recorded in 44100 Hz (CD quality), so it often sounds
much more clear than its predecessors.
